The Association will provide a forum for open communication between crisis intervention providers and other mental health professionals statewide. The Crisis Intervention Association acts as an advocate by providing a unified voice, at both the state and regional levels by participating and helping influence the development of legislation and regulations which impacts crisis intervention services.

The Association strives to provide and promote opportunities for crisis intervention, education, training and annual conferences.

The Crisis Intervention Association presents Journey To Normal: Women Of War Come Home. Journey To Normal is a 90 minute documentary film directed by JulieHera Destefano. Her documentary begins in Afghanistan where she conducted interviews with female veterans of war. She followed a group of eight very different women during a three year period. The results of these interviews are a rollercoaster of emotions and feelings of women of war and their lives after war. The documentary is a wonderful depiction of the effects of war on our returning veterans and the need for awareness to help them as well as all veterans to readjust to normal life.

On November 7, 2017 we are going to present this documentary at the State Theatre in Uniontown PA. The movie is free to attend and will begin at 5:30PM.There will be a question and answer session afterwards. Our hope in showing the film is that it will create awareness and discussion about the lives of veterans returning from war.

“Crisis Intervention Services and other emergency services are often the first or only contact for local community members seeking information or access to behavioral health services. Additionally, these services act as a safety net for community emergencies and provide access for other community members with long standing mental illnesses. The Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services have asked the CIAP to engage with them in building a high quality system of crisis and emergency services across the Commonwealth. The CIAP has brought it’s diverse membership and talent to assist in determining the “state of the state”, assist in policy development and identify best practices.”
